UCF Holds Off Tulsa 73-69
Tuesday night UCF tipped off their final home game of the season against Tulsa for Senior Night. Although they were without one of their leading rebounders, playmakers, & the teams leading shot blocker, CJ Walker, who was sidelined in a walking boot, the Knights rallied together to hold off a late run by Tulsa to secure the win.
Statistically, no team overshadowed the other in any part of the box scores. Rebounds & turnovers for each team were near mirror images of their opponents.
Neither team shot the ball well from the arc. Both teams shot low 47% from the field and Tulsa edged out from the arc at 38.1% to UCF’s 29.8%.
UCF finished with 3 starters in double digit scoring. Isaiah Adams led all scorers with 19 pts , & Darin Green Jr & Darius Perry with 14 pts each. Dre Fuller Jr & Avery Diggs contributed valuable minutes off the bench and 8 pts each.
Tulsa also finished with 3 starters in double digit scoring with Brandon Rachal 16 pts, Elijah Joiner 11, & Keyshawn Embery-Simpson, 11, as well as a solid performance by Darien Jackson off the bench with 13.
UCF improves their record to 9-11 overall & 7-10 in conference play. They will wrap up their regular season at ECU on Thursday, 3/4.
Tulsa falls to 10-11 overall & 7-9 in the conference. Tulsa has two regular season games remaining. A home matchup against Northeastern State on Thursday, 3/4 & away at SMU on Sunday, 3/7.
