Miami Takes Down No. 23 Texas A&M in Statement Win
Last season, Miami traveled to College Station to take on Texas A&M, where they suffered a disappointing 17-9 loss. On Saturday, the Hurricanes hosted the Aggies, making a statement with a 48-33 win over A&M.
Tyler Van Dyke put on a show leading the Hurricanes’ offense, putting up 374 yards and 5 touchdowns. Van Dyke completed 21 of his 30 pass attempts, averaging 12.5 yards per completion.
Xavier Restrepo, Jacolby George, and Colbie Young were on the receiving end of the bulk of Van Duke’s completions.
Restrepo led the team with 126 yards on 6 receptions, Jacolby George had 5 receptions for 94 yards and 3 touchdowns, and Colbie Young grabbed 6 receptions for 75 yards and a touchdown.
Second year head coach, Mario Cristobal, had been speaking about his desire to bring Miami back to college football prominence since he took the job. With their win over the Aggies, there is now proof that the Hurricanes are moving in that direction. Miami will have plenty of other chances to prove this throughout the season, as they will take on North Carolina, Clemson, and Florida State later in the year.
